GCU QEC Director Iram Sohail said that more than one thousand students and staff members were screened and provided free vaccination against Hepatitis B, and they would also be given follow-up vaccinations as per the international standards. "And if anyone is diagnosed with Hepatitis during the tests, they would be provided free of cost treatment and medical advice by the Punjab AIDS Control Program," she said.
The director also said that the focus of such camp was the university's support staff because they usually have less awareness and means for such expensive vaccinations and tests. Iram Sohail said that prevention was better than cure, so the Quality Enhancement Cell held different awareness campaigns throughout the year against the different chronic diseases for the better health of the university students and staff members. Later, pamphlets and other awareness material against Hepatitis B, C, Syphilis and HIV/AIDS were also distributed among students at the medical camp.
